NATIONAL STRATEGIES

The Society for Sound Hearing is involved in three main types of activities. The first involves the organizational aspects of the Society, which includes setting up of a strong organizational structure and putting it on a firm financial footing. These are outlined under the Organizational activities.

The second focus is on Building alliances with the governments across the region as well as international and regional organizations, such as the World Health Organization. Through its cooperation with the governments, the society has facilitated the launch of National Committees in three countries of the region, namely, India, Bangladesh and Indonesia. Details can be found under the National Committees.

The expert think tank of the Society, through the support of various agencies such as WHO SEARO, WHO India office and CBM, has developed the framework of strategies for prevention of deafness in the region. Through its own members as well as some partners, the Society has facilitated pilot projects in this regard.
